Meet Mayra

Mayra Grajales, the skilled force behind Almana Dog Stylz, boasts 20+ years in professional pet grooming. As an International Certified Master Groomer (ICMG) and National Certified Master Groomer (NCMG), her journey from self-grooming at 12 to founding Almana Dog Stylz, Puerto Rico’s first exclusive Dog Grooming Salon in 2006, has been remarkable.

Her impact in the show community spans 15+ years, renowned for her work with Conformation and Obedience events, notably with her Almana Pomeranians breeding program and grooming and showing Westies. Having relocated to South Florida in 2017, she revived Almana Dog Stylz in 2021 as an at-home grooming service and then in 2023 opened her salon in Plantation. Mayra also offers seminars and private lessons in Spanish and English and has multiple virtual webinars on the Groom Haus platform.

Microbubble Treatments

A microbubble spa treatment is a great natural way of taking care of your pet’s coat and skin. The bubbles (1-50 microns in size) help remove the excess oil in your dog’s skin without drying, while oxygenating and massaging your pet. The microbubbles also help eliminate odors caused by other skin conditions and aid in pain management for pets with painful joints. This includes an SOOS Dead Sea Mineral Salt Soak and is especially good as a treatment for pets with skin issues.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does All-Inclusive mean?

All grooms include premium customized shampoo and conditioning treatments, nails trimmed and buffed, ears cleaned, teeth freshening spray, and whatever other service or treatment is necessary for your dog on that day.

How long does a service take?

Depending on the time, care, and attention your pet requires appointment times can vary. On average our small dogs take about 2 hours, medium and large dogs can take 3-4 hours. We will notify you 20 minutes before your pet will be finished so you may pick them up promptly.

How frequently should my pet get groomed?

Grooming is an important part of your pet’s maintenance and well-being. We recommend all pets be groomed on a 4-6 week schedule.

Do you groom big dogs?

Yes, we groom all sizes and breeds of dogs. For dogs over 75lbs please contact us for a more accurate quote.

Do you groom cats?

Yes, we groom cats. Please contact us for a quote on your cat grooming needs.

What is your Cancelation Policy?

Your appointment and well-being are important to us. We understand that sometimes, unexpected delays can occur while making schedule adjustments. If you need to cancel your appointment, we respectfully request at least a 48-hour notice.

Any cancellations or rescheduling made less than 48 hours will result in a cancellation fee. The amount of the fee will be equal to 50% of the reserved services per pet.

If you are more than 15 minutes late to your service, we may be unable to accommodate you. In this case, the same cancellation fee will apply. We will do our very best to reschedule your service for another time that is convenient for you.

Repeat offenders may be asked to prepay in full (non-refundable) for future appointments or be denied services. 1st-time appointment clients with late cancellations/no-shows will not be eligible for another appointment. This helps keep our business running efficiently. Thank you for understanding!

What forms of payment do you take?

We accept all mayor credit card through Square, Cash, Zelle, and Venmo.

Do you take pets with fleas or ticks?

We do not accept pets that are infested with fleas or ticks. If your pet is discovered to have fleas or ticks we will give it a bath to kill the fleas and you will be charged for the service. Please keep your pet on preventive and notify us if you suspect fleas so we can check and take the necessary precautions.

Do you pluck ears?

We can and will pluck ears when safe to do so and if your pet tolerates the process.

Do you check anal glands?

We will check your pet’s Anal Gland externally and inform you if they need to see the vet. While we are trained in how to do anal glands properly, they are considered an Internal Organ and therefore are the territory of your veterinarian. We do not express anal glands routinely as it’s been shown to cause more harm then good. If your pet is having issues with their Anal Glands, please see your vet.

Can I stay in the salon while you groom my pet?

For the safety of your pet and the groomer, owners are prohobited from waiting in the salon while the grooming is in progress.

What kind of products do you use?

We use high quality professional grade products specifically designed with your pet in mind. Our top product is Botaniqa but we also use products from Hydra, Dog Fashion Spa, and Artero. We will gladly send you links to any products we recommend for your pet.

Will my pet be put in a cage?

We are a cage-free salon. Since your pet’s appointment is straight through we do not kennel dogs. We do have playpens available for dogs if they need a break or are waiting to be picked up.
